Who We Are and What We Work On
What Happens After You Call
You call, we ask what the door is doing - won't open, won't close, makes a grinding noise on the way down, opener runs but the door doesn't move. That tells us whether it's a spring, a cable, a broken roller, or the opener logic board before anyone drives out. Most of what we see in this area traces back to the housing stock: homes here were built anywhere from 1938 to 2015, with the median landing around 1973, so a lot of what we open up is original torsion hardware from that era, sized and mounted the way builders did it fifty years ago, not the way manufacturers spec doors now.
We bring parts sized for that stock - standard torsion springs, common cable gauges, rollers and hinges that fit 1960s and 70s track widths - because that's most of the job around here. What we don't do is stock every obsolete part for every custom door ever installed. If your door is a less common size or an older custom build, we may need to order the part before we finish the job, and we'll tell you that up front instead of pretending otherwise.
Once we're at the house, we diagnose in person, quote the repair before touching anything, and do the work or tell you honestly that replacement makes more sense than another patch.
Contacting Us
Call (949) 298-5972. We're based at 550 Newport Center Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660, and that's also where you can reach us if you'd rather stop by than call. We run calls out from there to the surrounding area - Corona Del Mar is about a mile east, Newport Coast about three miles east, and we also cover ground out toward Laguna Beach (roughly 8 miles), Aliso Viejo (about 9 miles), and Laguna Hills (around 11 miles).
When you call, have the basics ready: the door's behavior, whether it's a single or double, and whether anything happened right before it stopped working - a car bumped it, the opener remote stopped responding, that kind of thing. It speeds up the diagnosis.
We don't do emergency dispatch outside the hours we're actually staffed to run trucks, and we'll say so on the phone rather than promise a same-hour arrival we can't back up. If a part has to be ordered, we'll give you a straight timeline instead of a vague one.
Straight Answers
The service area runs across 267,428 households, with 101,343 of those being owner-occupied houses - the kind with an actual garage door to maintain, as opposed to a shared structure. Median household income here is $126,030, and in practice that shows up as more calls asking about full opener replacement with battery backup and smart-phone control rather than just a quick fix on the old unit. We'll quote both options and tell you which one actually makes sense for the door you have.
Not every repair is worth doing. If a door's torsion spring has gone and the drums, bearing plates, and track are all original from the 1970s, sometimes the honest number is a new door, not three separate repairs spread over a year. We'll say that instead of running up a bill in pieces.
Climate here is mild temperate, so we're not dealing with the kind of freeze-thaw cycles that crack panels or swell wood doors - most failures we see are mechanical wear and age, not weather damage. That's useful to know before you assume a panel issue is storm-related; around here it usually isn't.
Frequently asked questions
Do you work on older garage doors, or just new installs?
Most of what we see is older - homes in this area were mostly built in the 1960s and 70s, with the overall range running 1938 to 2015. We carry parts sized for that era's torsion hardware and track widths. If a door is a true custom build with an unusual size, we may need to order the part before finishing the job.
How far out from Newport Beach do you go?
We run calls from our Newport Center Dr location out toward Corona Del Mar and Newport Coast, both a few miles away, and farther out toward Laguna Beach, Aliso Viejo, and Laguna Hills, all within roughly 8 to 11 miles. Call and tell us the address - we'll confirm quickly.
Is it ever better to replace than repair?
Sometimes, yes. If the spring, drums, bearing plates, and track are all original and failing around the same time, patching one part often just means another breaks soon after. We'll lay out both the repair cost and the replacement cost and let you decide, rather than defaulting to whichever is easier for us.
